In Memoriam: Carolyn Weatherby, 1941—2023
Mrs. Weatherby’s efforts were instrumental to the Briscoe Center’s acquisition of the Dr. T. Karman Weatherby Map Collection. Composed of hundreds of historic maps, the collection documents battles, cities, frontier territories, nations, and continents across a number of centuries.
60 Years Later: The Kennedy assassination through the archives of eyewitnesses
Certain dates are deeply etched in the American conscience, such as Dec. 7, 1941, or Sept. 11, 2001. The assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, is one of those dates, which Walter Cronkite called “monumental collective national experiences.” On the 60th anniversary of Kennedy’s death, the center’s resources offer inside perspectives on that fateful date.
