American News Media History Archive
The Media History Archives contributes to the curriculum of the College of Communication by supporting teaching and research initiatives. It features the papers of media professionals including Walter Cronkite (UPI, CBS), Robert Trout (CBS, NBC, ABC), Sig Mickelson (CBS), Joseph and Shirley Wershba Papers (CBS, ABC,PBS), and Andy Rooney (CBS); the archives of media industries: New York Times, Newsweek, New York Journal American, New York Herald-Tribune, as well as one of the largest newspaper collections in the United States, containing original editions of some of the earliest known newspapers published in Texas and the Lower Mississippi River Valley; and the archives of photojournalists Dirck Halstead, David Hume Kennerly, Wally McNamee, Flip Schulke, and Diana Walker.
