Strengths - Western Americana
The Center for American History's Western Americana Collection contains materials documenting the historical development of the western United States, with special focus on the Rocky Mountain West. Composed mainly of books acquired individually or as libraries assembled by private collectors, the Western Americana Collection also includes manuscripts, photographs, maps, newspapers, ephemera, and other non-book items. Its book collections total more than 15,000 volumes, many of which are rare or scarce. Although these book collections contain some Texana, their geographic scope is generally west of the Lone Star state.
