Title: Fleeing Sniper Fire [cropped]
Description: “This picture was shot April 25, 1965, while I was lying on my belly hiding from sniper fire. I was with a Marine platoon just south of Danang [Vietnam.] We were looking for a company of Vietcong believed to be in the area. After the shooting stopped, the Marines rounded up all the villagers and questioned them. They got few answers. No one would tell them where the men of the village were—a typical reaction. This picture of the woman holding the child has become my favorite.” Eddie Adams as quoted in The Bergen Record, New Jersey, November 13, 1965.
