Title: Sword and scabbard
Description: U. S. Revenue and Marine officer’s sword of the pattern of 1833. Blade is made of steel, hilt and scabbard are brass and ornately engraved with leaf pattern. Sword blade is inscribed "Ashbel Smith, Surgeon General, Texas" with a star symbol and also engraved with leaf pattern. Other side of blade is inscribed "N.P. Ames, Cutler, Springfield" with a star symbol. Owned by Ashbel Smith. Donated by Florence C. Kittredge through Edward Spalding.
