Description: Fancy hankerchief made of ecru rickrack. This type of needlework is called tapework. It is done by sewing the rickrack into vine-like strips, which are then turned and sewn into a square to create a handkerchief. Handkerchief was used by Mary Ann Ellington (b. 1837-d. 1932). She moved to Texas in the 1850s. Donated by Margaret Steiner.
