Title: Evening Gown
Description: Tan silk taffeta evening gown has scoop neckline, fitted bodice and pleated skirt attached at a normal waistline. Skirt back is cartridge-pleated. Machine embroidery decorates 30.5 cm of skirt’s bottom edge. Two 3.8 cm embroidered bands are kept with the dress and possibly detached from the neckline. Dress has pleated cap sleeves that were worn off of the shoulder. Worn by Anna Gibbs McKinney, second wife of Thomas F. McKinney (married in 1842). Dress was bought in New Orleans by Thomas McKinney in 1844.
