Title: Slave shirt [back]
Description: Tannish/grey cotton shirt has small repeating motif in black and red, long cuffed sleeves, front placate opening with button closures, small stand-up collar. Shirt is gathered at yoke and neck. Very fragmented portions of the original fabric remain. These are couched to muslin backing for support. Shirt was found in crawl space of kitchen of former Blind Asylum [currently the UT Arno Nowotny Building]. Shirt was found by Texas Archeological Research Laboratory in December 1982, site number 41TV611.
