The
aerial view of Winedale on this panel shows the key sites
to visit on your tour. These include the Wagner House
and its Four-Square Barn (Winedale's centerpiece
historic structures), the Theater Barn, the McGregor
House, and the Winedale School. Docent-guided
tours of these buildings are available on weekends (on
weekdays by appointment only), or you may walk the
grounds yourself. Hazel's Lone Oak Cottage, where
you are now standing, features a two-part exhibit on the
Winedale Story. The first part, on the north side
of the breezeway, represents the social history of the
Winedale area from its earliest inhabitants to the
present. The second part, on the south side of the
breezeway, traces the work of philanthropist Ima Hogg and
the development of Winedale as a historical property of
the University of Texas at Austin. If you take a few
moments to view the exhibit before setting out on the
tour, your visit will be all the richer. |
