2009 Programs & Events

July 18 - 19, 2009 - From Texas to Berlin: The 36th Infantry Division in World War II, a symposium. Join distinguished historians and veterans of the Fighting 36th as they recount the history of the division during the Second World War. Featuring a lecture by Dr. Thomas Hatfield on the 36th Division in the Italian Campaign and a special exhibition of the Corporal Frank D. Duncan, Jr. watercolors.

May 18 – 26, 2009 - Alumni Campus Abroad in Normandy, France.

May 7, 2009 - The Institute for Studies in American Military History make available for download a five part curriculum based on the heroic life of Roy P. Benavidez. 

May 6, 2009 - The Institute for Studies in American Military History opens two new online exhibits. Bronze Star Nurse: Lt. Josephine H. Kaser and An Artist at War: Cpl. Frank D. Duncan, Jr.

2008 Programs & Events

May 5 - August 31, 2008 - Medal of Honor Recipient Roy P. Benavidez's Exhibit located at the Center for American History's reading room. Exhibit includes Roy P. Benavidez's Congressional Medal of Honor and Texas Legislative Medal of Honor.

November 29, 2007 - "Last Best Hope" Screening, Uvalde Opera House

October 15, 2007 - Belgian Government Honors Four Austin Filmakers for Film on Belgian Resistance in World War II

August 25, 2007 - WWII lecture by Dr. Thomas M. Hatfield, Corpus Christi

August 24, 2007 - "Last Best Hope" Screening on the USS Lexington, Corpus Christi

June 26, 2007 - Medal of Honor Recipient Roy P. Benavidez's Papers Donated to Center for American History

June 20, 2007 - Center for American History will conduct educational outreach programs in Corpus Christi

April 15, 2007 - Center for American History co-sponsored documentary wins international 2007 Silver Hugo Television Award
