From D-Day to the Rhine
"From D-Day to the Rhine" is a two-week study of major World War II battlefields in Western Europe, with special emphasis on Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. The tour begins in London with excursions to museums, and historic and cultural sites, then crosses the channel to Normandy and continues to such major battlesites as Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Paris, Reims, Bastogne, Malmedy, and the Remagen Bridge. The trip ends in Frankfurt, Germany. No trips are planned for 2007. Please email the Program Coordinator if you would like information about our next tour.
Tour Information
Director: Thomas M. Hatfield, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Studies in American Military History at the University of Texas at Austin. A guest newspaper columnist and contributor to professional journals, he has walked and studied the terrain of Normandy and Bulge battlefields since his teenage years. His publications include "The Secrets of D-Day," "The Surrender in Reims," "A Bicycler to Bastogne," "A Rhine Bridge at Remagen," and "Pilgrimage in Normandy: My Search for Tommy Rouse."
