"I had the distinct honor last month to participate in the dedication of the Walter Cronkite Plaza by the University's College of Communication. Throughout the years of our friendship, whenever I visited Walter, he always wanted the latest news about The University of Texas and, most especially, what the students were up to. I know that he would be much pleased to have such a prominent space named in his honor."
The opening event for An Extraordinary Life, the Briscoe Center's newest exhibit, was attended by Griffin Dunne, the noted actor, director and producer.
The University's College of Communication unveiled "And That's the Way It Is," an art installation by renowned new media artist Ben Rubin that includes content from the Briscoe Center's Walter Cronkite Papers.
With the generous support of a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the Briscoe Center for American History has completed its two-year project to uncover 1,500 hidden collections.
