Noise from LBJ Library construction will affect Center for American History Researchers
AUSTIN, TEXAS – March 29, 2007 – Asbestos abatement in the LBJ Library Grand Hallway and Conference Room 2.116 will produce loud noise that will be heard throughout Sid Richardson Hall, including the Reading Room of the Center for American History. This abatement will last through the month of April. In May, workmen will begin removing the tiles in the LBJ Plaza and surrounding Sid Richardson Hall, beginning on the south end by the Benson Latin American Collection Library and proceeding north. This work will continue for several months and will also be a source of noise for Center researchers. The Center for American History will provide more details about the Plaza work as they become available.
Researchers need to be aware that the construction noise will be heard in the Reading Room. Center staff can provide ear plugs to people bothered by the noise or researchers can bring in their own ear plugs to use while doing research.
We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause our researchers. For more information about the LBJ Library renovation and its affect on the Center for American History, please contact Margaret Schlankey at (512) 495-4537 or email@example.com.
