A youthful Jesse Jackson stands with other Illinois delegates at the 1972 Democratic Convention in Miami Beach. In 1971, Chicago resident Jackson founded Operation PUSH (People United to Serve Humanity), which sought to empower minorities and the disadvantaged to achieve economic advancement, education and employment.
