At the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, First Lady Nancy Reagan turns and waves to her husband, who suddenly appeared on a large screen above her. President Reagan was campaigning for re-election with a big lead amid a surge of patriotic pride generated by the'84 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
