This is one of the first days of Ford as President. In the back, you see all the empty shelves. All the Nixon things were gone—a new man was President of the United States. He had his foot up on the desk showing a rather relaxed demeanor. This was an important image. I mean, it really—I—by this point I was working as the official White House photographer. I released this among a bunch of other pictures, and I think it was on the front page of the Washington Post at the time.
