Since 1934, the University of Texas at Austin has been translating the Bexar Archives. In addition to their translation duties, the translators have appended an Index of places and names to each translation volume. Each index term refers back to a page within the volume where the term can be found.

The name terms include personal names as well as corporate names, such as "Canary Islanders," as seen in the detail from Volume 18.

The Bexar Archives Online project has begun converting these index terms to digital format, and combining them into one comprehensive index, thus freeing the individual indexes from the confines of the volume structure. Once all the index terms have been brought online, access to each term's occurrence on a given page will only be a click away.

The spelling of proper names has been standardized according to the individual's own signature whenever such was available. All the words have been capitalized and accented to conform with modern usage.

Translation of certified copy of the inquiry held by Martos y Navarrete concerning the transfer of San Agustín de Ahumada to the banks of the Trinity River.

Zacatecas

Translation of copies of Rebolledo's letters recommending establishment of presidios, settlements and missions in order to stop French incursions into Spanish territory. Accompanying documents are copies of the Fiscal's opinion on the suggestions, and Rebolledo's summary of Domingo Ramón's letter and plans for checking French incursions into Texas.

Translation of copy of Rebolledo's letter to the King, quoting letter to His Majesty of April 28, 1718, concerning Rebolledo's appointment to investigate French incursions, and informing the King that he has not yet received documents or supplies neccessary for expeditions to Texas. Accompanying documents are copies of St. Denis' itinerary, summaries of letters from Salinas, Diego Ramón, and Fray José Díaz, and statements of the Viceroy that he is organizing the province of New Philippines.
