Photocopies - Restrictions
Any materials larger than ledger size (11" x 17"), including original format newspapers and maps, will not be copied.
- Books that are available elsewhere within the UT-Austin Library System will not be copied.
- Manuscript collections that are available on microfilm will not be photocopied. Prints will be made from the microfilm.
- Materials that are widely available for interlibrary loan from other, circulating, libraries will not be copied.
- Manuscript or archival collections under donor mandated restrictions will not be copied without the written permission of the donor.
- No more than 25% of a book will be copied, with a maximum number of 100 pages.
- Entire manuscript/archival collections or large portions thereof will not be photocopied. The larger the collection, the smaller the percentage of materials which will be photocopied. These decisions are made on a case by case basis by the CAH Staff and at the Staff's discretion.
- Only one newspaper morgue clipping will be copied per page. If specific morgue articles are not physically marked by patrons or by their proxy researchers, we will photocopy the entire clip file.Some morgues copies may not produce entirely legible copies because of darkening of the original paper, datestamps, and grease pencil marks.
- For the Newsweek morgue, the Center for American History will make copies of published materials only for researchers. Any requests for copies of unpublished material held in the files will be referred to Newsweek's Rights and Permissions Department.
- Copies are provided for research purposes only, and may not be reproduced further without permission from the Center.
- Copies provided by the Center may not be deposited in other archives, libraries, or other institutions without written consent. If photocopies are authorized for deposit into other archives, libraries, or institutions, requests for further duplication of those documents must be directed to the Center for American History. The Center for American History reserves the right to request the return of photocopies.
- Scanners are not permitted in the reading room.
- Cameras, digital cameras, video equipment, sound recording equipment, etc. may only be used with special permission from the CAH Staff and by appointment.
