Exhibit: Russell Lee Photographs - Texana

Russell Lee moved to Texas and lived in Austin from 1947 until his death in 1986. He could have lived anywhere, but he chose Texas. In doing so, Lee gave his particular attention as a photographer to many aspects of the state, some well known almost to the level of myth and others more mundane but equally fascinating. “Texana” was the term Lee used to designate work relating to places, people, and events that are closely identified with the Lone Star State.
