Social Studies Education Page:
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills at the Briscoe Center
We have created specific links to our digitized materials and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards for 7th Grade Texas History and High School U.S. History (since 1877). Taken from Chapter 113 of the Texas Administrative Code, the Social Studies TEKS represented only include the "Knowledge and Skills" subsections in order to eliminate redundancies in the introductory text of the standards. The text is taken exactly from Chapter 113 of the TEKS in order to match what is required for Texas educators.
The images and materials linked here are located in our Digital Media Repository (DMR). Several images have zoom capabilities. Some of our audio-visual materials in the DMR are not fully accessible, but information is available for you to contact us if you wish to view these materials. Many of the materials with Spanish text also have translations returned within the search results.
Tips on using this reference tool:
Each blue bar is clickable and will expand to list the subsections of each standard.
If this icon appears within the blue bar, that standard contains links to our online materials.
When a link is clicked, it will automatically open a new tab in your browser so that your spot on the standards page is not lost.
Be patient! Our DMR is a large database and some links will take a few seconds to load.
This project is a collaborative effort with School of Information student, Catherine Bell, Briscoe Center staff, and the Region 13 Education Service Center.
