Make History Now: Contribute

The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History is known internationally for our extraordinary collections documenting Texas and United States history. But while the Briscoe Center's collections are world-class, our public service space in Unit Two of Sid Richardson Hall (SRH) is in dire need of renovation. No significant improvements have been made to the space since it opened forty-one years ago in 1971.

The Campaign to Make History is an exciting initiative to raise just under $4 million for the renovation of the Briscoe Center's entire first floor in SRH. The renovation plan includes a state-of-the-art Reading Room equipped with the technological advancements needed for research today, as well as a premier Exhibit Gallery — a place for the Briscoe Center to make our many unseen collections available for enjoyment by the general public. Improvements will also include a badly needed public programming room for lectures, film screenings, book talks, workshops, and roundtable discussions based on the Briscoe Center's collections.

Your contribution will help make history.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Briscoe Center's Campaign to Make History with a tax-deductible contribution. We're especially grateful to the family of Governor Dolph Briscoe for directing $1 million of the Governor's estate gift to the campaign. And we're delighted to announce that the University has pledged a $1 million challenge grant to the campaign. In order to leverage the University's $1 million contribution, the Briscoe Center must raise the remaining $2 million of the campaign goal.

Toward this goal, 100% of the Briscoe Center's Advisory Council supports the renovation project. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our Council members, who are our most important ambassadors to the world.

The Briscoe Center gratefully acknowledges the donors to the "Campaign to Make History." We look forward to including your name in this roster of people who are passionate about history. Please contribute online today or mail your check to:
